At the Nigerian British University (NBU), our governance and organizational structure reflect our commitment to excellence in education, transparency, and effective leadership. Each entity within our structure plays a crucial role in ensuring the university’s smooth functioning and continued success.
Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is the highest governing body of the university, responsible for setting long-term strategic goals and ensuring that the university remains on its mission to deliver world-class education. This board provides oversight and ensures that NDU operates in the best interest of its stakeholders.
The Chancellor
As the ceremonial head of the university, the Chancellor represents the university at official functions and confers degrees during graduation. The Chancellor serves as a key ambassador of NBU, embodying our values and vision.
The Governing Council
The Governing Council is responsible for the general oversight of the university’s operations. It includes representatives from both internal and external stakeholders and ensures the alignment of NBU’s operations with its strategic vision.
Senate
The Senate is the academic authority of NBU. It oversees all academic matters, including curriculum development, admissions policies, and academic standards. Comprising faculty members and senior academic officers, the Senate ensures the highest standards of academic excellence.
The Vice-Chancellor
The Vice-Chancellor is the chief executive officer of NBU, responsible for the overall leadership and management of the university. This position ensures the university’s goals are achieved while maintaining an environment of innovation, learning, and integrity.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor assists the Vice-Chancellor in running the university’s day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth execution of academic and administrative functions across the institution.
Registrar
The Registrar is the principal administrative officer responsible for maintaining student records, implementing academic policies, and supporting both staff and students through their academic journeys at NBU.
Bursar
The Bursar oversees the university’s financial operations, ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency. This role manages the university’s budgets, audits, and financial reporting.
Director of Management Information Systems
The Director of MIS plays a key role in maintaining NBU’s IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless digital support for academic and administrative operations.
Congregation and Convocation
- Congregation: This body includes all teaching and non-teaching staff and provides a platform for staff engagement and discussions on important university matters.
- Convocation: The Convocation comprises alumni and faculty, working to maintain the connection between the university and its graduates.
Faculty/Faculty Board
Each faculty is headed by a dean and governed by a Faculty Board, responsible for academic decisions within their field. These boards ensure that teaching, research, and community engagement meet the highest standards.
Departments/Departmental Boards
Each department within the faculties has a Departmental Board, which manages the academic and administrative affairs of the department. These boards ensure that students receive quality education in their chosen fields

- Director of Academic Planning: Oversees curriculum development and ensures that the academic programs align with national and international standards.
- Director of Physical Planning and Works: Responsible for maintaining and developing the university’s physical infrastructure.

- Dean of Students Affairs: Focuses on student welfare, providing support for personal development, campus life, and academic success.
